weird and strange news from around the blue ball.
A Midland, Texas, man got deeply, deeply offended when his girlfriend refused to smell his armpit. So offended he decided the best response would be to straight-up attack her.
According to WLBW, Robinson Pinilla-Bolivar is behind bars after trying to goad his GF into sniffing his armpit while she was washing dishes. After the woman understandably said no way, they began arguing, and the man allegedly hit her in the back of the head before proceeding to hold a knife to her.
WLBW reports that the woman then fled the scene and called the cops, who busted Pinilla-Bolivar at a traffic stop and arrested him for aggravated assault. He denied the allegations.
This 8-year-old in Norfolk, Virginia had one of the strangest morning trips to school ever.
After his mother left the child in the car while she went into a local post office, leaving the keys in the ignition and the car running, things took a turn for the bizarre. When she came back out 20 minutes later to take her child to school, both the car and her kid were gone.
This could have gone the way of the usual carjacking and kidnapping tales out there, but police found the boy approximately 15 minutes later. He was sitting in his school classroom with a smile on his face, absolutely unharmed but with one heck of a story. According to police, the boy told them that two men in their late teens or early 20s got in the car at the post office.
They reportedly saw the child there, and quickly told him they were there to take him to school. They asked the boy where he went to school, and when the child answered, they were off. The thieves dropped him off for class before disappearing with the vehicle. The boy told police he’d been nervous, because he’d never seen the men before. He was shaken when he learned of what had happened, but it was obvious to police that the men were not intent upon kidnapping the child, just stealing the car.
Fortunately, the mother had also left her phone in the car. Find My iPhone led them to the vehicle, which had been abandoned about three miles away from the scene with the men nowhere to be found. They have been going through all the security footage from the post office, scanning the car for evidence, and talking with neighbors but they have no suspects at this time.
Police have stressed that while it is legal to leave a car running in a parking lot, and it is also legal to leave a child unattended in a manner such as that, police have not yet ruled out the possibility of filing charges against the boy’s mother. They are in the process of trying to determine what, if any, danger he might have been in while sitting in a car with the ignition running.
She’s so vain — and that’s ultimately what led California investigators to positively identify her. This is after a series of selfies were posted to a victim’s iCloud. Police in California say they have an idea about who allegedly stole a phone from a high school girl and left her unconscious — and it’s the iCloud photos that caused them to issue an arrest warrant.
On Nov. 5, NBC Bay Area reports a young student from El Cerrito High School was walking and talking on her iPhone as she was making her way down Central Avenue.
It was around 1 p.m. when she says an unidentified tan vehicle pulled up, and inside the car were four men and one woman. The report says the female suspect inside the car jumped out and demanded the student pass over her phone and backpack.
The victim refused – and that’s when things got out of hand.
Police say the female suspect allegedly hit the victim in the head so hard she fell to the ground and lost consciousness. Police believe the suspect snatched the phone at that point and then dragged the student a short distance before ripping off her backpack. It’s unclear who called police, but the report says the victim was treated at the scene and then transported to the hospital.
The victim had no idea who’d attacked her and took her stuff – until a few days later. NBC says the victim noticed new photos uploaded to her iCloud storage. When she logged in to take a closer look, that’s when she discovered selfies of the woman who allegedly attacked her on the street.
NBC posted an update saying the El Cerrito police have received “multiple tips” identifying the thief as 18-year-old Tasja Dowell. They’ve since issued an arrest warrant for her arrest. She will be formally charged with child abuse and robbery.
A Tennessee woman was arrested after she allegedly attacked another woman with an ax for hugging her boyfriend.
Police say Juanita Chappell assaulted the victim while she was saying goodbye to a friend at a homeless camp. Documents say that the woman sustained head injuries and lost teeth, requiring medical attention, after the 34-year-old hit her with the blunt side of the weapon, WRCB-TV reports.
Chappell was apprehended at the camp. She said she struck the victim because the woman had hugged her boyfriend “intimately” — then Chappell grabbed an ax and told onlookers to watch out. According to the station, she has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault and is held on a $200,000 bond.
When Natasha West entered an Oak Lawn, Illinois, Denny’s and ordered the $4 all-you-can-eat pancake special earlier this month, she apparently either didn’t grasp the rules, or was trying to bend them until they broke. Either way, West’s pancake days are numbered.
According to police reports, West went into the local restaurant with at least one friend on November 6 and ordered the special. West then reportedly shared the pancakes with those friends. The waitress informed West that sharing was not allowed on the pancake special, and that “all-you-can-eat” only applied to the person who ordered.
West reportedly became irate, cursing and attempting to throw a few punches at the waitress (her punches missed). The group then left the restaurant without paying the bill. According to some reports, West repeatedly kicked the door of the restaurant as they left. Luckily, no one was hurt in the dramatic incident.
The manager of that Denny’s got a good description of the car, and police stopped the vehicle a short time later. West was arrested on charges of assault and property damage.
A Spanish soccer match took an unexpected turn when a male fan attempted to assault a female referee with his penis.
According to the Evening Standard, the match between CD Abes and Gabia CF in Granada was going as planned until an onlooker “invaded the pitch and approached assistant number one and tried to hit her with his penis, which he had pulled out beforehand,” referee Jesus Lorenzo Rodriguez penned in his report.
Though media reports haven’t identified the man by name, Rodriguez said he recognized him by his tracksuit and “clearly and unequivocally” determined he was a player for Celtic de Pulianas. It is unclear whether or not he faces criminal charges.
A Texas man reportedly tried to prostitute a four-year-old girl on the internet, enticing potential buyers to “come sleep with daddy’s little girl.”
Andrew Turley was caught when he allegedly sold the sedated girl in a Craigslist ad for $1,000. Authorities say he sent an undercover cop 60 emails about the deal, one of which showed a picture of a nude, passed-out child in a bed, according to the NY Daily News. It is currently unclear whether the child is Turley’s daughter or the child of a woman he is dating.
In addition, the 28-year-old supposedly told the cop he “may not fit in” but to “do whatever he wanted” to her. When police found the victim, they claim that she was passed out and possibly drugged, ABC 13 reports.
“The defendant offered two hours with a child younger than 10. When officers arrived they discovered the complaining witness being a four-year-old child who appeared to be under the influence or in a groggy state, also appeared to be unclothed under the blanket which the defendant exposed to the officer at that point he was arrested,” Assistant District Attorney Ann Johnson commented.
Turley was arrested and charged for child trafficking and prostitution. The station also reports that his bail was set at a million dollars and he was told to have no contact with the victim or her mother.weird
A new lawsuit filed by a mentally handicapped African-American man in South Carolina claims he was enslaved for years and viciously beaten by his white bosses.
The lawsuit made its way to the U.S. District court this week, the Huffington Post reports. The complaint alleges the defendants, Ernest Edwards and Bobby Paul Edwards, held the victim, Christopher Smith, enslaved between 2010 and 2014. Ernest who is named as owner of J & J Cafeteria in Conway, and Bobby, the manager of the corporation, are accused of making the victim work a grueling 18-hour day and then abusing him in front of others.
The Post and Courier says Smith began working at J & J Cafeteria more than 20 years ago and during that time he was forced to live in a “cockroach-infested” apartment owned by the business. Even after working those ridiculously long days — on every single day of the week — the report says Smith only made $2,842 a year.
South Carolina’s Department of Social Services was tipped off to the alleged abuse and while investigating the case in the fall of 2014, they found scars on Smith’s back.
The suit alleges the Edwards were responsible for a number of heinous offenses, including hitting Smith with a butcher knife and putting hot iron tongs to Smith’s neck. The Huffington Post says, according to the court documents, Smith could be heard “crying like a child” when some of the abuse would occur. Smith also told rescuers he was beat with belts, belt buckles, a spatula and the men’s fists. The report says he was also repeatedly called the “N” word and was prevented from seeing his family.
The Post and Courier said the reason Smith never told police was because he felt it would cause him more harm at the hands of the people who were hurting him.
After Smith was rescued, Bobby Edwards was arrested and charged in November 2014 for second-degree assault, reports said. That case is still pending, The Post and Courier reports.
Scott Bellamy is the attorney representing the Edwards brothers. He said his clients deny any and all charges.weird
While detained for a separate crime altogether, a New York man took heroin out off his butt and snorted it.
Vincent Arcona of Medford was arrested for his suspected role in a fatal shooting which occurred near New York City’s Penn Station. According to Gothamist, the suspect was sitting in an interview room when he “reached into his buttocks area” and retrieved the drug.
NYPD Detective Adrian Calemmo claimed Arcona then put the heroin on the table and snorted it before throwing the package under the table. When confronted, the 27-year-old admitted to the deed.
Arriving at a local hospital, Arcona was picked up after he attempted to use a fake name while seeking a psychological evaluation. According to CBS New York, an employee contacted 911 when they recognized him from released images from the shooting.
Though he hasn’t been formally charged with the shooting that left one dead and two wounded, his bright idea got him charged with evidence tampering and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Arcona is being held on $25,000 bail.weird
