A 38-year-old man admits he impregnated his 13-year-old foster daughter — but says he did it with a syringe. Brandon Weathers is representing himself at his own trial. He was allowed to question the victim on the stand in front of the court.
Weathers said he impregnated the victim because she “dreamed of becoming pregnant,”Omaha.com reports. Prosecutors believe Weathers was preying on the child and raping her.
According to the report, Douglas County Prosecutor Brenda Beadle said Weathers’ story is “cockamamie.” Instead, the chief deputy attorney believes this was a “classic” case of a sex predator’s grooming.
Although Weathers denies having sex with the victim, the girl told prosecutors a very different story. The report says the victim told authorities that he had raped her more times than she could count and that Weathers also gave her a cell phone so he could track her every move.
Investigators found out when the victim went to summer camp and told her sister she wasn’t a virgin anymore, the report said. The victim also told another brother that she’d had sex with “Mr. Brandon,” Omaha.com reports.
Even after authorities removed the child from Weathers’ home — a house he shared with his wife at the time — the report says he was able to track her down and continue to have sex with her.
On the stand during trial, the now 15-year-old victim said at one point that Weathers did in fact pull out a plastic syringe and allegedly inject her. The child said Weathers did this so he could “protect himself” from trouble. Omaha.com says after the injection, the victim told the court they had sex again.
It was what happened after the injection that helped the prosecution’s case. The report says Weathers tried to force the victim to take a morning-after pill, but she wouldn’t. She eventually miscarried and tissue collected came back to being a positive match to Weathers.
Weathers continued to deny any wrongdoing as it relates to rape. He told the court, according to Omaha.com, “I helped her indulge a fantasy — it was very stupid on my part. We never had sex. Did we use a syringe? We did. She even told me what her menstrual cycle was. She told me, and we timed it perfectly.”
Prosecutors believe this alleged scheme was an opportunity for Weathers to gain money and control and ultimately prey on a child.
Omaha.com says it’s not clear how Weathers was able to have any foster children because of his past criminal history. The report says Weathers has three felony convictions and spent time in prison on two separate occasions.
The NY Daily News spoke to a Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services spokesperson, who said according to state regulations, people are allowed to become foster parents if five years have passed since the date of the crime they were convicted of committing.
After a “calculated and pre-planned attack,” a British woman will serve a nine-year prison term for burning a man’s genitals with a hot iron during sex.
The Mirror reports that Kenya Alozie carried out the awful act on May 15 at the victim’s apartment. It’s unclear what prompted the violent incident. But, while intimate, Alozie also put the hot iron to his legs, in addition to beating him with a broken beer bottle. The victim sustained deep cuts and burns which required several surgeries.
“She ensured she had a broken bottle to hand and a hot iron to strike the victim and seriously harm him,” Greenwich Police Detective Constable Duncan Clark said.
Apprehended at Heathrow Airport as her student visa was set to expire, the Nigerian-born woman was arrested by police before she could flee the country. The 31-year-old was convicted of grievous bodily harm with intent in a London court.
A 46-year-old woman who had sex with a 14-year-old boy against a bath — before posing nude in photos for him — was found not guilty of abuse.
Amanda Lockhart was accused of forcing the boy to have sex with her on three occasions. He claimed the 5-foot woman threatened to beat him up if he refused. However, Lockhart insisted they had sex only one time in a bathroom and that he’d first presented a passport that stated he was 17, Mirror reports.
The woman also claimed it was the teen who was insistent about their romp. After “proving” his age, she says he hopped on top of her and squeezed her so tight she“yelped.” She also said that the naked photos of her were taken by the teen while in the bathroom.
She testified: “He grabbed me. He started shoving his hands down my top. With one hand he alreadytaken my bra off. He started squeezing me so hard I yelped.”
It was also claimed that Lockhart pounced on the boy when he was alone in his bedroom and performed a sex act.
The teen told the court: “I was scared of her. I didn’t know what she was going to do to me.” He also said that Lockhart molested him while at a friend’s house.
It took a jury six hours to clear Lockhart of five charges of engaging in sexual activity in a child.
A Louisiana photographer’s Facebook page was shut down after she posted a controversial family holiday photo.
Hannah Hawkes Photography snapped the above image of a woman and two girls with green duct tape over their mouths. A young boy, with no tape, is seen giving a thumbs-up to the camera while a man holds a sign that says “Peace on Earth.”
It didn’t go over well.
Though it could be interpreted as an un-P.C. joke, the Daily Dot points out that it also downplays domestic violence — which the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence says affects a woman every nine seconds. FB users seemed to agree.
“Revolting. The photographer insisted she didn’t “promote violence against women” that “it was what the family wanted” and it was “funny,”one user commented.
“I can’t believe a female photographer would take part in something so demeaning and damaging to women and girls. Women being deprived of their voices by men is no laughing matter. It wasn’t cute. It wasn’t humorous. It was horrifying.” another weighed in.
While many denounced the photos, Geelong Adviser reports that Hawkes defended the image, writing: “I have been called every name in the book, and have received some very hateful and vulgar comments and messages. I would like to say that as a female I do NOT and have never promoted violence to women! I do not support abuse, or the degradation of women.”
This defense fell on deaf ears. With hundreds of shares, the company’s Facebook page has since been shut down. And despite the page being no more, people are still pledging not to use the photographer’s services, regardless of whether Hawkes’ company makes its way back to social media.
A police officer in Baton Rouge got more than he bargained for when he ordered a hamburger from a local Dairy Queen. The Advocate says one of the workers behind the Louisiana counter was caught on tape allegedly spitting on the man’s bun. In addition, the worker, according to the report, admits to being infected with herpes.
The incident went down on Sunday when 21-year-old Elijah Johnson was caught red-handed after the officer noticed that something wasn’t right with his DQ food.
According to a police report obtained by The Advocate, “The lieutenant stuck his finger into the substance attempting to determine what it was and verified the substance resembled saliva.”
Based on what he found, the officer went to the store manager and launched a formal complaint. That manager reportedly questioned Johnson, but he initially denied it.
Cpl. Don Coppola, a Baton Rouge police spokesperson, said Johnson was seen on camera walking off to the side, putting the bun up to his mouth and then walking back to finish making the burger. What Johnson did not know was that he was not off-camera; the incident was seen in plain view.
It wasn’t until after Johnson reportedly gave a false birthdate that police figured out there was already an outstanding warrant for him and made the arrest. During this time, Johnson admitted he has “several diseases, including herpes,” the publication notes.
Just to be sure they have the right suspect, the saliva found on the burger will be tested for DNA. Those results have not been released yet, the report said.
Johnson is currently facing counts of mingling harmful substances and resisting an officer. He’s being held on a $4,000 bail, The Advocate said.
The NY Daily News says the online court system does not show an attorney listed for Johnson.
A 40-year-old woman who pretended to have it all together was arrested for stabbing a stranger in a Toronto drugstore on Friday afternoon.
It’s a bizarre turn for a woman who appeared to be successful — at least that’s the image Bisesar tried to present. According to the National Post, she went to one of the best business schools in Canada, but struggled to find work after graduating in 2007. She reportedly went to the same coffee shop every day and worked on her laptop in a business suit, though she did not presently have a job.
Her mental health had reportedly deteriorated recently, and the National Post says she was hospitalized last year. In a bizarre turn, a paranoid-sounding Biesesar reportedly emailed the newspaper and confessed to the stabbing:
“Do you know any top professionals in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, nanotechnology, satellites? Maybe Military. Maybe Government?
Something has been happening to me and this is not my normal self and I would like to know who and why this is happening. There is either a single person or more responsible and who and why would be nice to know. I
am sorry about the incidence. I felt the need to be extreme to see if it would work. I would normally not do such a thing.”
Frank Veltri, 33, really wanted the pizza, wings, and breadsticks that he’d ordered for delivery.
When the delivery drivers, Steven and Nicole Tyukodi, arrived 49 minutes later, the hangriness might have taken over. According to reports, Veltri told Nicole Tyukodi that they’d taken too long and that he should get his order for free. He even reportedly told the drivers that he’d spoken to “corporate” and they’d said the pizza would be free. Veltri then reportedly took the order out of the driver’s hands and walked back into his home.
At some point Veltri reportedly came back outside to screamed at the driver. Nicole Tyukodi reportedly tried to calm him, and even got Veltri on the phone with the store’s manager. Unfortunately, the manager asked Veltri to give back the pizza, which only escalated the argument. Veltri allegedly pointed at a sign on the property stating that the owner was armed.
Soon after, Veltri allegedly walked over to his car, pulled out a gun, and pointed it at the drivers, telling them to leave and insisting again that he wouldn’t pay for the food.
The Tyukodis left the premises, but called police. Officers arrived at the scene and found the gun. They arrested Veltri on charges of simple assault, theft by unlawful taking, and robbery.
A Tennessee woman is facing serious charges for an alleged failed abortion attempt.
Anna Yocca is accused of attempting the procedure herself while six months pregnant. Authorities began to investigate after she went to an emergency room. Her 1.5 pound baby was saved, but he continues to suffer from medical conditions, according to the Murfreesboro Post.
According to a Murfreesboro Police Department report obtained by the Associated Press, the 31-year-old woman attempted to carry out an abortion while in a water-filled bathtub. However, it did not go as planned and she became worried as she bled out.
“The whole time, she was concerned for her health, her safety and never gave any attention to the health and safety to the unborn child,” Sergeant Kyle Evans said.
Nurses told News Channel 5 that Yocca mentioned wanting to end the pregnancy while being treated. Because of the failed abortion, doctors told The Post that the baby boy will have severe lung, heart, and eye problems for the rest of his life.
Held on $200,000 bond, the 31-year-old has been charged with first-degree attempted murder.
When officers from the Fairbanks, Alaska police department responded to a call from a man trying to use a counterfeit $100 bill at a local store, they stumbled across more than they’d bargained for.
The man, Jeffrey Martin, stayed at the store until police arrived. A woman with him — identified in the police report as Chelsea Marie Sperry — took off in a green sedan after handing Martin a “large wad” of cash.
Another officer pursued the green sedan, and eventually took Sperry into custody for driving with a suspended license. As officers were booking her, they noticed that she was making “furtive movements” toward her crotch. A body scan showed she had something concealed in her vagina and possibly her anus. A female corrections officer performed a search, and returned with cash and drugs from both orifices.
Sperry had reportedly tucked approximately $900 inside her body, along with multiple baggies of suspected drugs. Of that cash, though, only one $10.00 bill was genuine. All of the rest was counterfeit. Intriguingly, there are reports that the counterfeit bills were marked “for motion picture use only.”
The cavity search also uncovered approximately six morphine sulfate pills, about a quarter-gram of heroin, eight grams of meth, and 40 small baggies normally used for the distribution of heroin.
Sperry has been charged with felony third-degree drug misconduct and misdemeanor fourth-degree drug misconduct.
Onlookers were stunned when a woman in a parked car apparently hit the gas instead of the brake, sending her car careening off the third floor of a parking garage and nose-diving to the ground below.
Perhaps more shocking? Both women in the car survived the nasty-looking crash, which occurred just after 7 pm on Sunday night in the garage of a San Diego shopping mall.
The women were reportedly “breathing and conscious” following their 40-foot fall. After help arrived, they were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“Honestly they’re very strong women, when they pulled them out of the car, they were still walking,” a witness named Natalia Somo noted in a news report.
