Time once again for your weekly dose of Weird News.(Yes i realize i am a day late, thanks for noticing.)
An Indiana woman was reportedly nabbed for regularly throwing buckets of pee on her neighbor’s house.
The unsanitary incident involved Jackie VanTyle, who The Smoking Gun reports admitted to peeing in a bucket and stockpiling the urine for months. She would reportedly chuck the contents of the bucket on the siding of her neighbor’s home when he went out.
Upon arriving at the victim’s home, a police officer noted that “a very strong odor of urine hit me” and he witnessed some damage to the siding, which apparently made it“obvious something was thrown on the house.”
However, according to The Star Press, the neighbor installed a camera which captured the 69-year-old woman’s acts on Oct. 17 and 18. When originally asked about the incident, VanTyle denied throwing the pee but later changed her tune, admitting that she had been doing it all summer and she would continue to do it. She had a good reason: “I don’t like him. He’s a bad neighbor.”
When told she could be sent to jail for that, officers claimed she “stated to the effect that she thought it was just a nuisance.”
Nevertheless, the 69-year-old faces two criminal mischief charges, each carrying one-year maximum jail terms. Court documents also indicate that she did quite a number on the home, costing $2,100 to $3,798 to replace the damaged siding. She is scheduled in court on Jan. 12.
Two Scrooges with anger issues have been arrested in White Plains, New York, after allegedly beating up a 41-year-old legally blind Salvation Army bell-ringer outside a local restaurant.
According to reports, Jermaine Simmons, 41, was on a break from his duties and waiting for food at the local Smashburger. Also present were Juan Rodriguez, 30, and Audrianna Wignal, 21. Rodriguez reportedly accused Simmons of cutting ahead of them in line. A verbal argument ensued and then Rodriguez reportedly punched the victim, knocking him to the ground. He is accused of then straddling Simmons and continuing to punch him while Wignal allegedly kicked the victim. At one point, Rodriguez reportedly got up and grabbed the Salvation Army Kettle, throwing it at Simmons’ head.
Simmons was taken to White Plains Hospital. He suffered a broken nose and a fractured eye socket, but police say that as soon as he was discharged from the hospital, he was back with his bell and kettle on the job the next day.
Rodriguez is being held on second-degree assault charges, with bail set at $25,000. Wignal, who was on probation for criminal mischief charges, is also being being held on second-degree assault charges in this case, with bail set at $20,000.
A Florida woman was arrested for shoplifting from a Walmart after being caught on a motorized cart drinking S. Home wine, as well as chowing on sushi, rotisserie chicken, and cinnamon rolls, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office claims.
According to WFLA, the incident occurred at a Lecanto Walmart, where Josseleen Elida Lopez, 20, was seen with a half-empty wine bottle in her scooter. A loss prevention employee also allegedly witnessed her boost several items and devour them in the store before putting the boxes back — $32.36 worth of food and wine, to be exact. She reportedly ate nearly the entire rotisserie chicken.
When apprehended by authorities, they discovered two syringes in her backpack and one in her purse, which she admitted to using “to shoot up meth,” a police report obtained by KTLA read. The woman also told police she was hungry but did not want to leave with the groceries.
“She further stated that she knew what she was doing was wrong, but she did it anyway,”the report also said.
Lopez is facing retail petit theft and possession of drug paraphernalia charges.
A Minnesota woman allegedly bit off a portion of her hubby’s ear in the midst of a heated fight … about a beer.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by WUSA-TV, Jamie Elrod of St. Cloud took off part of her husband’s right ear — which officers found on the floor of their apartment, in addition to blood. The victim said the scuffle began over some booze and the wife “went off at him.”
However, when asked about what happened to her man’s ear, the 37-year-old woman, who apparently seemed drunk, claimed she didn’t know. When in jail, however, Elrod admitted to the crime during a phone call, the New York Daily News reports.
Charged with first-degree assault, Elrod is reportedly being held at Stearns County Jail on $30,000 bond.
A 16-year-old girl who says she was drugged and forced to have sex with strangers is now safe. Police have arrested four people for human trafficking related to her case.
My San Antonio reports that 22-year-old Rebecca Nicole Alvarez, 34-year-old Christopher Castoreno, 34-year-old Veronica Ann Diaz, and 44-year-old Adrian Colon are all facing human trafficking charges. Each of the suspects, with the exception of Colon, have also been charged with sexual assault. Colon, according to the report, was instead charged with attempted sexual assault.
The case reportedly began when the 16-year-old met Diaz and Colon through a friend. My San Antonio says the victim was forced to have sex with that couple, but when they wanted her to do the same with other people, she refused.
That’s when that couple allegedly sold the girl to Castoreno and Alvarez for $4,000. Investigators believe the sexual assault happened the last week of November. Police dove into the case on Dec. 15 when they received a call to a pawn shop, where the victim told authorities she was being followed by Castoreno and Alvarez.
Jesse Salame, a San Antonio spokesman said, “The couple then supplied her with drugs, got her intoxicated and had sex with her and forced her to have sex with other people at various locations around town. She was able to get ahold of a cell phone at one of the houses she was taken to and that’s when she called her friend, and her friend called her mother, and that’s when they called police.”
The victim told authorities, according to the report, that some of the locations are sketchy and not clear to her because of the amount of drugs and alcohol she was forced to take.
San Antonio police say they are working to figure out if there are other victims and suspects related to this case.
Braydon Barnes’ young life was cut short by his parents, prosecutors say, after they left him alone in a room with a space heater for 38 hours straight. The toddler died of hyperthermia. The space heater reportedly didn’t have a thermostat to turn it off.
CBS St. Louis says his parents, Lucas Barnes and Kathleen Peacock, both in their twenties, are now charged with abuse or neglect of a child resulting in death, as well as drug charges. Police believe the couple were using their trailer to manufacture methamphetamine.
The parents are accused of leaving the two-year-old alone in the room inside their trailer and ignoring his cries for help. By the time first responders arrived, according to CBS, paramedics said Braydon had been dead “for some time.” In addition, authorities say the child was malnourished, thin and dehydrated, People Magazine reports.
Authorities have since condemned the space where the family lived. It was reportedly in deplorable condition.
Prosecutor Tim Lohmar, from the St. Charles County’s office, says, “The sad part is that the community has resources for people like this. We’ve got the crisis nursery, we’ve got other resources available for people who are overwhelmed, who are incapable of providing for their child. Sadly, it takes cases like this, perhaps, to remind people that those resources are out there waiting to be used.”
To make matters worse, the report says Peacock is also currently pregnant again. CBS St. Louis says she is facing previous child endangerment charges for another instance where she was allegedly driving a vehicle under the influence.
Both parents are now reportedly behind bars at the St. Charles County jail.
A man in Colorado who spent 28 years behind bars for a rape he denies committing has been released.
Despite everything that’s happened over the last nearly three decades, 60-year-old Clarence Moses-EL finally walked out of prison just days before Christmas, on Tuesday. He posted a $50,000 bond issued by a judge and was able to see his wife and hug his grandchildren for the first time, NBC said.
According to NBC News, a judge not only overturned his conviction from the 1980’s, but she said he would “likely” be acquitted if he were to go on trial again. The district attorney’s office has not yet decided if they will try his case again, according to NBC News, though a tentative trial date has been set for May.
Moses-EL landed behind bars after the rape victim said she saw him in a dream about 24 hours after she was attacked, but during that time period, according to reports, she actually gave the cops the name of another man. That other person is a convicted rapist who later confessed to the violent act.
The story began in 1988 when Moses-EL was accused of assaulting and raping a woman after she went out for a night of drinking, the NY Daily News reports.
Twenty-five years later, Moses-EL received a letter from a convicted rapist who reportedly attacked a woman and her daughter in 1992. The man, identified as L.C. Jackson, said, “I really don’t know what to say to you, but let’s start by bringing what was done in the dark into the light. I have a lot on my heart,” according to court documents obtained by the NY Daily News.
Fast forward to 2015: A spokesperson for the district attorney’s office said, “In his statement to the District Attorney’s investigator, he admitted he had lied and made the confession up. He said he had been told by the Innocence Project that he couldn’t be charged in the matter because the statute of limitations, so he felt he could tell a few lies to help out Moses-EL.”
Towanda Moses, Moses-EL’s relative, feels differently. She told the NY Daily News, “The victim named him, he said he did it, why is my uncle still in jail? That’s the million dollar question.” That statement was made days before his release.
In addition to the confession, NBC News says Moses-EL’s case inspired legislation requiring the preservation of DNA in major felony cases. This was after all of the victim’s clothing and body swabs were thrown out in Moses-EL’s case.
When asked what kept him going all this time, Moses-EL told NBC News it was his spirituality — “and my innocence. That’s what really kept me going.”
Before leaving the sea of people who saw him walk free, Moses-EL said, “this is the moment of my life, right here. I’m at a loss for words. I just want to get home to my family.”
During his imprisonment, Moses-EL has lost many loved ones, including his mother, his two sisters, two brothers, an uncle and a nephew.
What a gas.
A woman named Dawn Meikle of Port Lucie, Fla., (where else?) has reportedly been arrested for assaulting her husband … after he farted in bed a few too many times.
Donald Fitzroy Meikle reportedly told cops that his wife first elbowed him for passing gas in bed early on the morning of Dec. 11. Things only escalated when he tooted again and Dawn apparently began kicking and elbowing the man, prompting him to try to restrain her to protect them both.
According to CBS 12, Dawn suffered a broken lip during the scuffle, while her hubby ended up with multiple scratches on his chest.
Dawn was the one who called 911, but she was also the one who ended up arrested and jailed for domestic battery. Womp womp.
In September, CrimeFeed told you about the odd case of Gayle Dawn Newland, a woman convicted of pretending to be a man and tricking a friend into a sexual relationship with her.
Now another person has ended up in court for a similar crime — and it looks like this one is going to walk. A Brit who assumed the identity of a man by using a full body suit and a prosthetic penis when having sex with a woman has received a suspended jail sentence.
Meeting single mom Carol Sanders online, Fiona Manson — who now identifies as a transgender man named Kyran Lee — used the pseudonym Joey G-Star Crislow. Lee described Crislow as a “good looking, muscular young man.” Daily Mail reports that the 25-year-old Lee — who is currently awaiting gender reassignment surgery — admitted to sexual assault in 2012 when he had sex with Sanders while fully clothed, but using a fake penis.
“He told her all the things she wanted to hear: how much he loved her and how good she was with her boy,” Prosecutor Sarah Knight commented. The pair had reportedly developed a real relationship, growing close over the course of a year or so before moving things into the bedroom.
Instead of jail time, Lee was given a two-year prison sentence which was suspended for two years. Sanders found out about Lee’s true identity after she saw him working at McDonald’s under his birth name of Fiona Manson, and the woman contacted police.
“He kept his hand at the base of his penis the whole time,” Sanders told Mirror. “He never got undressed in front of me.”
She also spoke to The Sun about the decision, saying: “How can one person be jailed for eight years but my sex attacker just walks out of court? It’s disgusting. I thought for the first time in years I would feel safe and be able to sleep at night. But instead he’s back out on the street.”
