Weird News of the week enjoy.
Barbara Dawson knew she needed medical assistance, and the 57-year-old Florida woman headed to Calhoun Liberty Hospital in Blountstown late on December 20 (reports conflict on whether she went for breathing difficulties or stomach pains).
When the medical staff determined that her condition had stabilized, they discharged her, but Dawson refused to leave, saying she didn’t feel well enough. The hospital eventually called police to forcibly remove her.
When Officer John Tadloc got there, an unnamed staff member told him where Dawson was. Officer Tadloc’s report states that he first encountered Dawson’s aunt in the exam room. Tadloc tried to explain the situation to Dawson, but Dawson insisted that she needed further treatment.
Dawson continued to refuse to leave, and Tadloc arrested Dawson for trespassing and disorderly conduct. Attempts to handcuff Dawson were met with what he described as “resisting arrest in a non violent but non compliant manner.” While he was attempting to handcuff her, Dawson said she was having trouble breathing, but the officer wrote in his report that she seemed to be breathing normally.
When Tadloc finally handcuffed her and was leading her to his patrol car, Dawson fell to the ground in the parking lot. Tadloc reportedly believed Dawson was using a “dead weight” tactic to avoid jail.
A nurse helped him move Dawson into a sitting position and check her pulse, which was first within normal parameters. After she had been lying on the ground for about 20 minutes, a doctor came out and sent Dawson back into the hospital for re-admittance.
Dawson was listed in critical condition, and roughly 90 minutes after the incident began, she was declared dead. Her cause of death was reportedly a pulmonary embolism that had reached her lung, which doctors said was a result of obesity (Dawson weighed approximately 270 pounds).
Lawyers for the Dawson family have filed suit against the hospital, alleging that if the staff had not assumed that she was faking an illness, she might still be alive today.Sad and Weird.
Police are looking for a man who reportedly dropped off a heroin-laden burrito at a Florida (of course) hospital.
Bradenton police claimed the unidentified man (pictured) went to the Blake Medical Center and left a burrito which was packed with a syringe full of heroin, according to the Bradenton Herald.
The man in question, who was caught on surveillance cameras, handed an employee a bag and told them it was food for a patient. Upon further inspection, the worker discovered the drugs, which had fallen out of the burrito.
Bradenton police describe the suspect as a 6-foot-4 black man with bleached blonde hair. They are providing a $1,000 reward to anyone who has information on the man or the incident in question.
A newborn child is dead — and authorities believe she was bitten to death by rats while her mom was out dancing.
The 4-month-old baby was left unattended at an Acolman, Mexico, residence as her mother, 18-year-old Lizbeth Jeronima Fuentes Munguia, partied the night away (some sources claim she was actually away for two days).
According to police, the mom returned the next morning to find the infant’s face, torso, and fingers had been chewed off by rats, the New York Post reported.
Paramedics pronounced the baby dead at the scene.
According to Fox News Latino, the mother claimed that she had given the tot to her grandmother before enjoying a night on the town. However, the Post reported that a neighbor told authorities that she had left the baby alone for hours to go out.
Both the mother and grandmother were supposedly arrested and taken in for questioning.
A woman has claimed her 4-year-old daughter became stuck to a McDonald’s toilet seat in a cruel prank that caused the skin to be ripped from the little girl’s legs.
Metro reported that Kaya Langmead rushed out of the restroom in tears and told her mother Nicole, who was waiting outside with her two other daughters, that she had become stuck to the seat. While breaking free, Kaya lost some skin on the back of her legs.
“To the two young blonde girls that thought it would be hilarious to put super glue on the disabled and baby changing toilet in McDonalds, I just want you to know that I’m still having to console my four year old daughter who was unfortunate enough to use the toilet after your little prank,” Nicole wrote on Facebook.
McDonald’s staff inspected the bathroom and discovered superglue all over the toilet seats and bathroom. Police claimed they are looking for two girls aged between 16 and 18.
According to Nicole, it took five days for all the glue to come off her daughter’s skin. She wrote on Facebook: “The backs of her legs and bum are red raw after the glue had stuck her to the seat and she has been in tears on and off since. I hope you’re proud of yourselves. Your families must be so proud.”
Word of advice: it’s an extremely bad idea to film yourself doing drugs at work. It’s an even worse idea to let anyone upload that clip to the Internet.
Two former Pizza Hut employees in Cypress, California picked a very dumb way to ring in 2016. In this video, posted on LiveLeak, the employees can be seen taking hits from a white bong in the restaurant’s kitchen. It was reportedly shot on New Year’s Eve.
The clip quickly went viral, garnering over 150,000 views since it was uploaded on January 1. A spokesman for Pizza Hut made the following statement to the website Eater.com: “There is no tolerance for this kind of activity at any of our restaurants. The local franchise owner took swift action and the employees involved will no longer work for Pizza Hut.”
They might also need lawyers, because while California has legalized marijuana for medical use, recreational use is not yet legal (although it is reportedly a ballot initiative in this year’s elections).
A video is making the rounds of a California woman confronting a Starbucks employee for stealing her credit card info and then using it to go on a $200 shopping spree.
In the beginning, Juanna Martinez is seen driving in her car, explaining she is heading to the company’s drive-thru to “get even; that’s what we’re gonna do.” Martinez claims that the barista told her she needed new receipt paper, then manually jotted her CC info down. She allegedly then used that card info to buy groceries.
Making it to the drive-thru, Martinez wasted no time sounding off. “So we got you on camera yesterday. Just know that the cops are coming up here,” she said. “They recorded your ass and everything. You took a copy of my f—ing card on New Year’s Day! You know what you did.”
And it didn’t take too long for the Starbucks employee to not only admit to wrongdoing, put profusely apologize. “I’m so sorry, ma’am. I am a good child. I swear, I am really good. I really do go to school. I’m 19. I play soccer,” she responded and went on to explain how she used the receipt paper scheme to get her info. The clearly shaken barista then begged Martinez not to get police involved.
But it’s clear Martinez is anything but sold on her apology. “You come to Starbucks to get coffee, not to get robbed,” she fired back.
And it looks like Starbucks agrees with that statement. According to ABC 13 Houston, the company said they have terminated the employee. However, it is unclear whether she faces any charges.
Not only is an elderly man believed to have killed his wife, but he reportedly then entombed her head in concrete — and used the concrete block to drown himself in an Austrian lake.
Police official Gottfried Mitterlehner said the incident involved a 72-year-old man and his 71-year-old German wife. According to Yahoo! News, officials say the unidentified man was found weighed down in a lake, with one of his hands attached to a block of concrete inside a bag — which included his wife’s severed head.
Their remains were found in different bodies of water. On Monday, the man’s body, and the woman’s head in the bag, were recovered by police divers in Traunsee. A day prior, her other remains were discovered floating in two suitcases in Gmunden.Weird
“I never thought at 24 I’d be adopting my 9-year-old brother, but you roll with the punches.”That was how Alexandria Griffin-Heady reportedly recently described her journey toward adopting her 9-year-old half-brother. Now, she may be facing criminal charges of child endangerment.
Griffin-Heady, 24, knew her brother had been bouncing through the foster care system in California ever since their mother died in 2011. She also had three pit-bull mixes — one mother and two of her pups — which she had raised from infancy. She lived with the dogs in a travel trailer in rural Yuba County, near the people who had adopted two of her other siblings.
Griffin-Heady had lobbied Sacramento County Child Protective Services for permission to let her 9-year-old half-brother Tyler Griffin-Huston stay with her overnight on weekends. She finally gained that permission, and all appeared to be going well.
That is … until last weekend. On Sunday morning, Griffin-Heady headed out to work a short few-hour shift at her job as a security guard. Tyler was left alone with the three dogs, who had, according to multiple reports, never given Griffin-Heady any indication that they could pose a threat. When she returned three hours later, Tyler’s mangled body was all that remained of the boy, and the dogs were reportedly covered in blood. Unresponsive, he was rushed to the hospital, where he died of his injuries. Nobody knows what might have made the three dogs turn aggressive toward the boy.
The dogs were seized by animal control, and will most likely be euthanized.
Yuba County Undersheriff Jerry Read told reporters that the investigation is ongoing, and they have not yet ruled out criminal charges against Griffin-Heady.
A Universal Orlando caricature artist is in jail, and another is in the hospital after a New Year’s Day murder attempt that happened with a pair of green scissors.
Fredrick Torres, 33, had reportedly been fired just the day before he showed up to work at the theme park as if nothing had happened. When his coworker, Glenn Ferguson, saw him arrive, he reportedly called their boss at Fasen Arts — an outside firm not affiliated with Universal — who told Torres to leave.
That’s when things took a frightening turn in the Toon Lagoon area of Islands of Adventure. Onlookers reportedly told police they saw Torres chase and lunge at Ferguson, 42.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, onlookers heard Torres say he would “slit Glenn’s throat” and “kill your number one artist.”
A security guard reportedly stepped between them, but the attack continued. When help arrived, Ferguson was transported to the hospital and into emergency surgery, where doctors said he had a 50 percent chance of survival. One of the arteries in his neck had been wounded and another injury caused brain damage, per the Sentinel. Other sources say Ferguson, an acclaimed artist, is still in a coma.
Torres has been charged with first-degree murder.
