It was a normal episode of the BBC’s Crimewatch. That is, until presenter Jason Mohammed stood by while co-presenter Sophie Raworth introduced an update to a story from last year about a brutal brass knuckle attack on an 89-year-old man in West Yorkshire in November 2014. The victim, Colin Butlin, endured the vicious beating and robbery, but passed away in the summer of 2015.

The attacker, 42-year-old Viktor Lakatos, disappeared. Trying to get the public involved, an appeal went out on Crimewatch in early 2015. Lakatos was finally caught and jailed, thanks to tips from that appeal. He was sentenced last month to 18 years in prison for the attack.

However, when Lakatos’ mugshot was shown on screen during the Crimewatch update, some observant viewers thought they were seeing double. One of the first, if not the first, to take to Twitter to mention it was a woman whose daily work involves mugshots on a regular basis:

Nicholas’ tweet has been retweeted over 1,500 times. Hundreds of others have tweeted in on their own noting the resemblance.

Many others also wondered if the producers of the show noticed the resemblance too. During the second run of a mugshot of Lakatos, they used a more recent image, one that showed the attacker with hair and a beard.

55 years later, Father John Feit has been arrested for the murder of a Texas beauty queen.

A retired priest, Feit was arrested in Arizona and is currently contesting extradition to Texas. The 83-year-old is believed to have killed Irene Garza while visiting Texas in 1960 (he was living in Chicago at the time). The 25-year-old woman was last seen alive giving a confession to the then 27-year-old priest. According to the Huffington Post, the beauty queen’s body was found six days later on April 21, 1960 floating in an irrigation ditch.

Though Feit left the priesthood in 1970’s and started a family in Arizona, the case heated up again after woman said he had attacked her, too, about three weeks before Garza’s death. Another witness later came forward and said Feit had admitted to killing Garza, explaining how he fondled her, then kept her in a basement. On Easter Sunday, he claimed Feit said he killed her by putting a bag over her head and placing her in a bathtub.

According to CBS News, a former monk also claimed that Feit said the same thing.

Despite all this, then-Hidalgo County District Attorney Rene Guerra declared there wasn’t enough evidence to indict the man. ABC 13  pointed out that over the years, he has been subjected to a DNA test and two lie detector tests that Chicago detectives claimed he failed.

Garza’s cause of death was determined to be suffocation. Found with church items, the autopsy also determined she had been raped.

“After nearly 56 years, Ms. Garza’s family and our community will finally see that justice is served,” Hidalgo County District Attorney Ricardo Rodriguez Jr. said in a statement. “We will elaborate further with additional details once we have completed the extradition process.”

Feit is currently held in Arizona jail in lieu of $750,000 bail. Texas has 90 days to extradite the former priest and can waive their decision at any point. At court on Wednesday, ABC 13 reported that the 83-year-old appeared confused about his murder charge due to how long ago it happened.

“I’m totally puzzled why something is coming up now, after the fact. My instinct is telling me to fight extradition,” Feit said. “It almost sounds as though waiving extradition is a better course but this whole thing thing makes no sense because the crime in question took place in 1960.”

A doctor in Tennessee accidentally performed surgery on the wrong baby inside a hospital, People magazine reports.

Jennifer Melton told the publication her son Nate was born in December. He was happy, healthy and did not have any issues. One chilly morning two months ago, a nurse walked into her room and said she was taking the baby for what Melton thought was a routine checkup. The nurse reportedly told Melton to get some sleep.

Sometime later inside the University Medical Center in Lebanon, TN, baby Nate was brought back to Melton. People magazine says the nurse began to talk about the“frenulectomy” performed on Nate. Melton soon realized it was a surgical operation done on her baby’s tongue – to get rid of the tissues that connects the tongue to the floor of his mouth.

The publication said it was to help with Nate’s nursing issues. Melton told the nurse, “’You must have the wrong paperwork, our nursing is fine.’ I even double checked to make sure she handed me the right baby!”

That’s when the nightmare began for Melton. She said inside Nate’s mouth, she saw “speckles” of blood under his tongue, and realized he’d had the clipping operation.

Melton said, “I immediately began crying, wondering what they had done to my innocent child.”

Melton told People that minutes later the doctor called and admitted he’d performed the surgery on the wrong baby. According to Melton, she said the doctor told her Nate would be fine and he barely cried during the ordeal.

People magazine said they confirmed the doctor is an independent physician, who only has privileges at the hospital. He’s been identified, according to their report, as Adam Groshans, Sr. Director of Ancillary Services and Marketing at University Medical Center.

Melton says although Nate is two-months-old now, she still worries about what is to come, “I worry every day about Nate’s future. I know it’s a job for doctors and it can get repetitive, but we have feelings and we are human beings. I don’t want anybody to feel like I felt in that moment and how I feel now, stressing over the uncertainty of our future and what’s in store for my sweet baby who is an innocent and new to the world.”

The report says Melton has retained an attorney, but currently there is not a suit pending.

Last week, a shoe with a severed foot in it made its way onto a Pacific Northwest shore — making it the 16th since 2007.

Along British Columbia, Canada, and Washington state, feet in athletic shoes or boots have been discovered on their shores. Last week the shoe was found in British Columbia by a family who picked it up and noticed that there were human bones in it. Based on the model of shoe, the foot belonged to someone who went missing between March 2013 and last week, according to The Washington Post.

And if the past is any indication, this foot will lead to more questions than answers. Since 2007, many aspects are still a mystery: who most of these feet belong to, how long they were in the ocean, and where the other foot is. The 2004 tsunami, drug cartels, serial killers, and a Quadra Island plane crash have been speculated as the culprit of this conundrum.

Most of the time a right foot washes up. However, in summer 2007 two right feet were unearthed days apart from one another in British Columbia, which especially piqued authorities’ interest.

However, British Columbia investigators have identified the owners of five of the feet — and possibly their cause of death. Three are believed to have died of natural causes and two were people who battled mental illness. Whether they or the others are the result of foul play, it is known that bodies exposed to the water commonly lose their hands and feet first.

Despite this, it still begs the question of why there are so many since 2007. There is no clear answer.

A Wisconsin man is making headlines after blaming his drunkenness on the fried fish he ate for dinner.

According to Fox, 76-year-old John Przybyla was pulled over for drunk driving back in 2014. (It was only his 10th DUI, no big deal.) He told the responding officer that the reason his breath smelled of alcohol was, yes, because he’d eaten fried fish battered in beer earlier.

A blood test showed he had a blood alcohol level of .042. Someone apparently really loves beer-battered fish.

In any case, a jury didn’t buy it — the man was convicted by a jury in Friendship, Wisconsin, but a sentencing date hasn’t been set yet.

A baby who was declared dead miraculously started crying moments before he was to be cremated.

Channel 6 in China reported the baffling case of a premature baby boy believed to have died after his heart stopped, according to the Miami Herald.

The baby, named An An, was purportedly a mere 49 ounces when he was born. Though he spent 23 days in the intensive care unit, he went home to celebrate the Chinese New Year with his family. However, he returned to Pan’an People’s Hospital after his condition worsened. It was there that he suffered what doctors believed was a fatal heart attack.

Metro reported as the family prepared for little An An’s funeral, an employee claimed he heard the unthinkable from the morgue which reached temperatures of 10 degrees.

“As soon as I pulled him out of the morgue, I thought I heard noises. When I pushed him to the crematory, the noises became louder,” they said. “I opened the container and saw him moving, so I told the father the baby was still alive.”

Not only did the baby survive a would-be fatal heart attack, but he reportedly fared the frigid trip to the morgue for 15 hours — something doctors are calling nothing short of a miracle.

Though An An is still fighting for his life in intensive care, Doctor Chen, Pan’an People’s Hospital’s head of pediatrics, commented: “I have been a pediatrician for over 20 years. I’ve never seen anything like this.”

Raven Joy Campbell (pictured) was a developmentally disabled woman who vanished from her Los Angeles home six years ago. Last summer, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, she was found dead behind the walls of the Harbor Hills Housing Project apartment after authorities say they received a tip. The apartment is a place she once lived with three other roommates.

Now, investigators say they’ve arrested a man they believe is allegedly responsible for her death. During a police press conference last Friday, authorities said Randolph Garbutt, a former roommate, was stopped last week during a traffic stop and charged with murder.

KTLA says according to the DA’s office, Campbell was killed with a hammer. Investigators say the 31-year-old Campbell, who was developmentally disabled, died from blunt force trauma before her body was put behind the wall. Her remains were found last summer after the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department says they used cadaver dogs to search her former apartment. The agency was acting on a tip from an informant, the report added.

Malaikah Manasseh spoke out to the LA Times about her sister’s death. Manasseh said she knew something was amiss years ago when Campbell left her purse behind. Leaving her bag inside the apartment was something she would not have done, Manasseh added.

During the police press conference, authorities say they are not sure if this will be the only arrest. The motive has not been revealed and the investigation continues.

Currently Garbutt is being held on a $1 million bail.

Police in Chhattisgarh, India arrested a creature they call a “repeat offender” for breaking into the garden of judicial magistrate Hemant Ratre. The culprit? A goat.

Police say the ballsy goat jumped the iron gate that blocked off the garden. They also told reporters that senior police officials have received numerous complaints from Ratre about the animal. Ratre’s gardner had reportedly warned the magistrate several times about the goat, and the latest assault on the enclosure, consisting of the goat reportedly scaling the boundary wall to eat flowers as well as veggies, was the proverbial last straw.

After several warnings about the goat had been issued, the goat’s owner, 40 year-old Abdul Hasan was taken into custody along with the animal. Hasan was booked on charges of mischief causing damage and criminal trespass. According to some reports, the goat was booked on the same charges. If convicted, Hasan could get between two to seven years in prison, as well as an undisclosed fine. The goat was released on bail later that day. Reports are conflicting, but we presume that Hasan was released on bail as well. No word on when the courts will get a chance to chew over this case.

A shoplifter who allegedly boosted more than $2,100 in designer clothing was arrested because she left her cellphone — and a puddle of her own urine — at the scene.

Brooke Amber Sutton of Florida was nabbed after an Ann Taylor employee reportedly found removed tags, her cellphone, and a puddle of her urine in a dressing room. According to the NWF Daily News, Sutton left the Ann Taylor and then went to Saks Fifth Avenue, where she lifted six pairs of jeans worth around $1,000 total — but set off the alarm when she tried to hide them under a men’s coat while leaving.

Police were able to get the phone number for Sutton’s husband, who gave cops a description of his wife’s car which she was found driving near the store.

Woman Busted For Flinging Buckets of Pee On Neighbor’s House

When cops apprehended Sutton, they not only found the six pairs of jeans in her car but the clothing and jewelry she allegedly stole from Ann Taylor. During an interview, she admitted to stealing 18 items from A.T. in addition to leaving her urine on the floor and on a few pieces of merchandise.

The 27-year-old is charged with two counts of felony retail theft. She was booked into and the Walton County Jail and released on bond the next day.

Workers at a Royal Palm Beach, Florida, Wendy’s were less than thrilled when a man pulled up and threw a live alligator through the establishment’s drive-through window.

Joshua James, 23, was arrested after he allegedly placed an order at said Wendy’s and then tossed a 3-and-a-half-foot gator through the window after receiving his beverage. His mom claims it was just a dumb joke, calling him nothing more than a little “prankster.”

It’s likely James is not laughing now, though, having been charged with aggravated assault and unlawful possession and transportation of an alligator, per CNN.

Though the incident happened in October, James wasn’t arrested until now.

In a court appearance, a judge instructed James to avoid contact with any animals except his mom’s dog, to stay away from all Wendy’s establishments, to get a mental health evaluation and to avoid possessing weapons.

The alligator in question was later freed in a local canal, per WPTV.

A 40-year-old woman in Sonnino, Italy could spend up to six years in jail if she is convicted of a charge of “mistreatment of the family” that was filed by her husband.

According to local reports, the husband’s complaint states that for two years, he was forced to live in a home with poor hygienic conditions (poor baby!). He also alleged that he had been “insulted” by the woman’s negligence for two years. He claimed that his wife rarely cooks and that he never gets a “good meal.” He also alleges that any food he brings home ends up in the trash can.

The husband, seven years older than his wife, also alleges that he has occasionally been kicked out of the bedroom for, um, unreported reasons. (We have to wonder if that might be different if he considered helping his wife out with the housework from time to time.)

The woman’s trial is scheduled to begin on October 12.

When Balenga Kalala thought he had successfully hired hit men to kill his wife, the last thing he expected to see was his very-alive wife show up at her own funeral — but that’s exactly what happened.

Noela Rukundo waited as the last mourners left her funeral. That’s when she exited her car to confront her husband who made the entire thing possible.

The Washington Post reports Rukundo recounted him saying: “Is it my eyes? Is it a ghost?” To which she tactfully replied: “Surprise! I’m still alive!”

You see, ten days earlier Kalala supposedly sought hit men to off his wife. And to his knowledge they carried out the deed, but he was terribly mistaken.

The whole ordeal began a year ago, when the couple flew from Melbourne to her native Burundi to attend her stepmother’s funeral. Following the service, Kalala allegedly told her to go outside and get some air — but she was met by a man with a gun. Next thing, a blindfolded Runundo  was taken to a building and tied to a chair. She could hear the voices say that “Balenga sent us to kill you,” the New York Post reports.

Runundo told an Australian news station that she fainted after hearing her husband’s over the phone giving the go-ahead. Though when she awakened, the hit men explained they weren’t going to kill her since they don’t kill women and they knew her brother. They made an agreement: They would keep the $7,000 doled out by her hubby, and she would be freed two days later — along with receipts and recordings of their conversations with Kalala.

From there, she solicited her pastor in Melbourne for help getting back home. Without Kalala knowing (and him busy telling everyone she had died in an accident) Runundo headed to the Land Down Under undetected and in time for her funeral.

Though Kalala said he was “sorry for everything,” Runundo had already contacted police and he was arrested. According to the Post, he pled guilty to incitement to murder and was sentenced to nine years in jail.

And despite her daring act, Runundo claimed she has been criticized and even threatened by Melbourne’s Congolese community for reporting her husband. A mom of eight, she has gotten disturbing messages and had her door broken open following the incident.

“I will stand up like a strong woman,” she said. “My situation, my past life? That is gone. I’m starting a new life now.”

In a federal lawsuit, a 16-year-old teen is suing a Colorado news station for allegedly airing a shot of his erect penis during a piece about sexting.

Seeking $75,000 in damages, the teen is suing KOAA TV and six employees for sexual exploitation, invasion of privacy, and defamation, amongst other charges. He is claiming that the Pueblo-based station used an image of his area for a Feb. 24, 2014 cautionary piece about sexting. The newscast also reportedly displayed the then 14-year-old’s Facebook page with his full name.

According to The Denver Post, the family had contacted KOAA TV in Feb. 2014 about an incident where a cell phone video of their son’s penis was uploaded to YouTube as blackmail. The lawsuit is claiming that both the teen and dad requested that the station not reveal his identity.

The Washington Times reports that the lawsuit is specifically alleging that KOAA TV staff screencapped images from the boy’s Facebook page and images from the video for their coverage. The Facebook page reportedly appeared on television unedited, showing the names of the teen’s friends.

“KOAA aired the thumbnail image of the Youtube video depicting Plaintiff’s erect penis and his name as a part of the story,” the suit is claiming.

According to The Gazette, the station broadcasts throughout southern Colorado.

“While we are unable to discuss the specifics of this recently filed litigation, we will defend ourselves against unfounded accusations,” KOAA president and general manager Evan Pappas told The Gazette.
